ETT. History
My work continually evolves. The origins remain the same.
Some influences announce themselves. Others remain quietly beneath the surface, revealing themselves much later. This is a collection of moments, objects, places and ideas that have stayed with me — and continue to find their way into the work, whether consciously or not.
Origins of ETT.
Sometimes, the things that stay with us begin as mistakes, accidents or moments we never intended to create. Perhaps that is the beauty of it all — not everything needs to make sense at first to become part of the story.
Some things find their way into your life through the people closest to you. Seeing A appear in my daughter’s world felt like another quiet reminder that it had become part of ours.
Somewhere along the way, ETT became more than familiar letters. It began appearing in the everyday details of my work, becoming familiar in places I would never have thought to look.
Even in the simplest of birthday wishes, I found myself being called ETT. It made me smile to realise that something which had once felt so unexpected had become such a natural part of how people knew me.
Perhaps that is how these things begin: not with a grand decision, but with small, seemingly unrelated moments that gradually become connected. Looking back, I can see ETT was already there, long before I fully understood what it might become.
ETT started showing up somehow. Even when mistakes were made.
Curiosity developed from a young age has allowed me to look beyond the obvious, finding inspiration in the unexpected details, forms, movements and moments that shape the world around me.
2015Childhood was a world without fixed boundaries, where the ordinary could become extraordinary and imagination could transform almost anything. It was a time of curiosity, of looking closer, collecting impressions and finding wonder in the smallest of details. Before the need to explain or define an idea, there was simply the freedom to explore it. That instinct to question, to wander and to see beyond what was immediately in front of her would become an enduring part of how she understood the world.
2015Art opened a space where emotion could exist without explanation, where colour, texture, movement and form could communicate what words often could not. It offered the freedom to experiment, to challenge expectation and to follow an idea without knowing precisely where it might lead. Through art, she discovered that creativity was not always about finding an answer, but about being willing to ask a different question. It nurtured an instinct to look beyond the obvious and to trust the unexpected, allowing feeling and intuition to become as important as intention.
2015Photography changed the way she looked at the world. It taught her to notice what might otherwise pass unseen: the quiet geometry of a shadow, the tension between light and darkness, the fleeting gesture that reveals something profound about a person. A photograph is as much about what is left outside the frame as what is held within it. Through the lens, she began to understand the beauty of perspective, the significance of timing and the extraordinary detail hidden within ordinary moments. Seeing became an act of attention, and attention became a way of understanding.
2015Motherhood brought a different understanding of time, identity and what it means to be present. It revealed a depth of feeling that exists beyond language, reshaping her priorities and the way she understood both herself and the people she loved. There is a particular beauty in watching another person discover the world for the first time, in recognising familiar gestures in an entirely different life, and in understanding that change and continuity can exist together. Motherhood asked her to see beyond herself, while bringing her closer to what mattered most. It became an influence not defined by a single moment, but by a lifetime of small, extraordinary transformations.
2015Architecture, art, movement, light, gesture, rhythm, texture, tension and expression — the things that surround us can become quiet influences on the way we see and make. The language of a building, the movement of a hand, the trace left by an object, the balance of a form or the way light catches a surface can all leave an impression.
With eyes open, a lifetime of curiosity begins.
A life of looking closer.
Curiosity and creativity have always shaped the way I see the world. From art and architecture to motherhood and photography, each has influenced my perspective, challenged my thinking and left its mark on who I am. Together, they represent the experiences, passions and defining moments that have shaped my journey, both personally and creatively.
Photography taught me to look beyond what is immediately visible and find beauty in the details others might overlook.
Through architecture, I began to understand how the spaces around us influence the way we think, feel and connect.
More than a form of expression, art became a way of thinking, seeing and making sense of the world around me.
Movement
Light
Gesture
Movement, light and gesture all heavily influence the way I begin to create each and every piece of jewellery.
Expression
I’ve always been fascinated by the interplay of light, movement and shape, and the ways in which even the simplest gestures can become a form of expression. I’m drawn to the subtle shifts in form, the rhythm of a movement and the shadows that emerge as light meets a surface. For me, creativity often begins with curiosity — an instinct to experiment, explore and discover something unexpected in the relationship between these elements.
Thank you for taking the time to discover a little more of my world. Sharing these moments has been both meaningful and, at times, difficult, as some parts of life are not always easy to put into words. But I wanted to give you a glimpse of the experiences, influences and memories that have shaped me, and the person behind each piece I create. Because jewellery is never just about the materials or the finished form; it carries something of the person who makes it, the things they have seen, felt and experienced along the way. I hope you have enjoyed this glimpse into my journey as much as I have valued sharing it with you.
